Philippine Holidays 2023

Here is the list of the Philippine Holidays for the year 2023 as published in the Official Gazette. We have a lot of long weekends this year!!!

Here, do take a look. Green checks are for holidays that are stitched to the weekends and in salmon checks are two days on Wednesday and Thursday and there is potential to extend to the weekend. As you can see, it is pretty much most of it. Those not checked are weekends anyways.

January 2nd and November 2nd have been added to special non-working holidays list. Some holidays were moved like the Day of Valor was originally April 9th and Bonifacio Day was originally November 30th). And, the National Heroes Day, since 2007 have always been commemorated on the last Monday of August. During the time of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, she had the “Holiday Economics” programme, which aimed to reduce work disruptions by moving holidays to the nearest Monday or Friday of the week, thus allowing for longer weekends and boosting domestic leisure and tourism. Same principle that is at work now with our 2023 Philippine Holidays, it seems.

Anyhow, regardless of the economics behind it, it would be great to start planning our 2023 and ensure we reserve time to rest and refresh.

UPDATE [Feb 23rd]: Feb 24th has been declared a special non-working holiday.

UPDATE [Apr 14th]: April 21st has just been declared a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr.

UPDATE [June 16th]: June 28th has been declared a regular holiday in observance of the Feast of the Sacrifice
