Holy Week Reflections

It had been busy for most of us. Busy day, week or month, maybe even a year. Or years. Let me ask you this. When was the last time you actually took time for yourself? Not a vacation. Just a quiet morning to savor your coffee. A relaxed shower. A good run. A book. If you can’t remember, maybe it’s time you take a step back and re-evaluate. Meditate. Reflect.

Many people look forward to the Holy Week because they see it as opportunity to relax from work or school. Some people even take this chance to pursue their summer swimming plans. Now, how about take this time to reflect on one or some these?

Work vs Passion

I am a librarian by profession, while my passion is writing. I write fiction stories and feature articles. After your shift, what do you do you as a hobby? Do you still have the energy to do it?

Hobbies

Speaking of hobbies, you should have one. You don’t have to be good in it, just something you enjoy doing. No hobbies? Well, it’s time to try out new things.

Lifestyle vs Expenses

This is something you don’t just choose to think—you have to. I’m no financial advisor but comparing your expenses to your salary will give you a wake-up call. List the things you spend money on and be surprised when you see how much of it is not really necessary. Yes, (online) shopping is life, but evaluating your needs versus your wants and working it from there will really benefit you. And your family.

Attitude

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”

– Winston Churchill

How we react to what’s happening around us affects our emotions and decisions. What stresses you out and how do you react to it? Stress contributes negatively to our well-being. More stress, more negative effect. Moreover, it also affects how we deal with people.  We don’t want someone who is constantly stressed, so why be one?

These are just a few things to reflect on. You might have other stuff you want to think of. After all, this week is not just a time to recall Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, but also a time to reflect.
